April 16-19
okkkk I am going to bed rn... so I hope to actually write more about these dates... but the most important thing you must know is Ame, Jay, Jake and I have an exceptionally wholesome 24 hours in the Twin Cities.
April 13-15
Ooooooo boi. So the week started strong by doing our taxes a few days before they were due. Followed by the very ominous storm that was set to roll in on Tuesday afternoon. It was like a hushed announcement everywhere you went, "Did you hear about the storm... the weather... I hear it is going to be bad". I told Jake, " Pishhh, storm, sporm, quarum." I have been in them before; he can go meet Ame and Jay up in the Twin Cities, and I will hold down the fort till Friday when I am set to meet them up there for my company meeting... Whoops. Well, I have been in storms, but I had not been in one with literal baseball-sized hail. I always hear people say "baseball-sized hail or golf ball-sized hail," but I kinda don't totally believe them. Until... suddenly, at about 5 pm, I got the blaring weather announcement, and moments later, a very slow pelting of baseballs hit the roof, and then it got faster and faster! Munchkin went flying out of the cat tree, not to be seen for another hour or so. The ladies and I hunkered in the basement till the tornado warning was over. I could not believe the number of cracked windshields and sunroofs I was seeing in the Madison area for the rest of the week. Yoga mats, plastic bags, and tarps covered all sorts of cars to protect their interior while the weather raged on the rest of the week.
Wednesday, I got my hair cut just in time for Haley and Brett's wedding!! My hairdresser, Robyn, and I are really in sync with reality TV, and just energy in general, so it was a very welcomed two hours. I also got an undercut tee hee. The rest was a bit of a blur, getting the house ready for us to be out of town, and then realizing I had a crack in my windshield—nothing major like the pictures included of my coworkers' cars, but still a bummer. Also, btw, I am working my 9-5 Monday through Friday.
My parents came up to Madison to visit Jake and me and attend the Badgers vs. Huskers softball game. Even though little baby syster attended the University of Nebraska, I was rooting for the Badgers because 1. I love the animal 2. I live here... Even though they had my support, they unfortunately lost all three games this weekend. We made the most of our weekend anyway, though! After the Saturday game, Mom, Pops, and I took off west to Cave of the Mounds. I have been hearing about it for years, but had never managed to go and tbh I was really missing out. I really just forgot how much I love a cave. They are just remarkable works of art, like naturally occurring sculptures. We had a really great time there learning how it formed and how it was found by accident! Afterwards, though, your gurl needed a fucking nap. But then did we rally! We had dinner at Prost! which is a German beer hall basically, where Jake and I faced a cocktail and a BOOT OF BEER. I did not truly understand just how much beer could fit in a boot until last night, and let me tell you tis A LOT. I managed to leave Prost! standing and off we went to our favorite bar, Aftershock, which is a retro arcade bar. Pops was living his best life after he found his and his best friends' favorite game from childhood, Tempest. I was in awe to find out he climbed to the 5th place on the leader board in one go. Mom supported me as I did my best at the games and attempted to beat Jake at DDR, but I think I am a few years away from reaching that level of greatness.

On Sunday, Syster came up!!! and we participated in the time-honored tradition of tailgating. Jake cooked us bacon and eggs while we munched on pastries from Batch. From there, we went to the last game of the weekend, where we bumped into our second cousin, Brittnay. The Badgers not only lost but got slaughtered in this game. However, the redeeming factor in watching this game was seeing the Nebraska player who let out epic battle cries periodically.
